instruction for teens ages 13-16. The program utilizes art, music, and
literature as mediums to inspire students' imaginations to create art based
on Native American folklore. Riley Laflin of New Vineyard, is shown painting
acrylic on canvas. Students projects will ultimately provide art for the

Time Tested: Tim Rose
By Alvin Da Costa
If I recall correctly, I first heard Tim Rose's version of 'Hey Joe' on the radio. The DJ intimated that Rose had written the song which impressed me greatly because, like everyone else at the time, I was in awe of Jimi Hendrix's interpretation. Although he did not, in fact, write the song, Hendrix had, indeed, heard Tim Rose's 1966 version, admired it and then later recorded the track that became his first hit and made him an international super-star. Ernie Gurney
'I'm Not There (I'm Gone)' He not busy being born is busy dying (Bob Dylan)
By Ernie Gurney
After almost more ado than one can do with, I’m Not There is finally here. This film about Bob Dylan that never mentions Bob Dylan is as much a cipher as its oblique subject - one Bob Dylan. Although in this case, it’s multiple Bob Dylans.
Are you confused yet? Just wait.
Second Wind
A scratchy crew of plus-40s who formed a band for the fun of it
The list of dead rock musicians is approaching the total for dead classical composers (and those guys are ALL dead!). That’s not surprising when you consider that hard-core rock-and-roll attitude. With lyrics like “hope I die before I get old” many of them did exactly that. Janis, Hendrix, Morrison, Lowell George, etc and too, too etc. |
