David Leigh (left), Chairman for the Annual Appeal of HealthReach Community Health Centers, hands a check to HealthReach Community Health Center’s President & CEO Connie Coggins in front of a painted mural at Belgrade Regional Health Center. The check represented 100% board participation for the company’s 2009 internal fundraising campaign.

Across Central and Western Maine, 219 employees at eleven medical practices and two dental practices of HealthReach Community Health Centers serve 32,000 Maine residents and visitors each year. In September, employees and board members completed a successful internal campaign by raising over $12,600 to assist community health centers, United Way and MaineShare.

In October, HealthReach invites community partners to join in this effort. Donations are essential to fund patient service improvements, technology, and community health programs in this rapidly changing and complicated health care environment. Each and every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.

“Having a medical facility close to home has a positive impact on our entire community,” states David Leigh, Belgrade resident and Chairman for the Annual Appeal of HealthReach Community Health Centers. “Families and individuals come to Belgrade Regional Health Center for everything from checkups to chronic disease management.”

On any given day, medical professionals who live in surrounding towns welcome a range of residents from infants to retirees.

At the Belgrade facility, a mural of the region created by a local artist serves as a backdrop in the waiting room. In addition, hanging strategically on the wall is the name of each and every donor who contributed to the new facility completed several years ago. “The health center has been a mainstay in the Belgrade Lakes area for over thirty years,” states Leigh. “We are lucky to have this caliber of health care so close to our villages and lakes in the heart of our thriving community.” Leigh continues: “I am proud to report that, once again, 100% of the HealthReach Board of Directors donated to the Annual Campaign this year.”
