Conference title winners: It’s a Mt. Blue sweep

LEADING THE WAY: Mt. Blue’s Abbi Davis led the Cougar girls’ to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference overall title, Saturday, with a third place finish in the slalom at Titcomb Mountain. Davis placed fourth in the giant slalom, Wednesday at Black Mountain to finish as Mt. Blue’s top girls’ Alpine skier.


CROSSING THE LINE: Mt. Blue’s Alex Witt turned in the fastest run of the day, Saturday at Titcomb Mountain, in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference ski championships boys slalom race. Witt burned the course in 31.99 seconds to finish in third place. Mt. Blue boys won the KVAC overall ski championship for their combined efforts in Alpine and Nordic racing.


TUCKED TO THE FINISH: With the finish line in site, Mt. Blue’s Richie Brooks glides downhill preparing for a fast dash to the finish line, Saturday at Titcomb Mountain in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Nordic ski championships.


GREAT COMPETITORS: Maranacook’s Abby Mace and Mt. Blue’s Hannah Allen, at right, embrace after finishing in a tie for first place in classical skiing competition. Mace finished as the overall girls Nordic champion with Allen taking second. Mt. Blue girls won the KVAC overall ski championship for their combined efforts in Alpine and Nordic racing.
