Polls close at 8 p.m.; Ballot questions here

4 mins read

Polls across the state closed at 8 p.m. tonight. Voters decided five state referendum questions, a People’s Veto and four bond issues. Democrats and Republicans also cast their votes in their party’s primary. Locally, Jay, Rangeley and Wilton will choose selectmen, and Jay residents will also need to approve a budget for the next fiscal year.

Voters in the MSAD 58 towns; Avon, Phillips, Strong, Eustis and Kingfield, as well as residents of Jay, will be asked to accept or reject school budgets passed at budget meetings on June 1.

According to Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap, a projected voter turnout of 20 percent is likely. Results may be a little slower in coming due to the number of questions and candidates running for governor.

The five State referendum questions can be seen here.
