RANGELEY – Carolyn “Lynnie” Knight Raymond, 72, of Oquossoc Ave., Rangeley, died unexpectedly at her home in Rangeley, with her daughter at her side.

She was born a twin in Farmington, August 2, 1938, a daughter of Wendell and Ruth Knight Brewster. She received her education in Phillips schools and on June 13, 1990, received her GED, the same day as her son, Craig.

On Dec. 4, 1955, she married Charles Raymond in Eustis. Mrs. Raymond worked in the telephone office in Rangeley for several years and then worked in the hospitality industry for many years, having been employed at Doc Grant’s, The People’s Choice, Farmington Irving’s, and Family Fare in Farmington. In her later years, she worked as a caregiver to elderly folks in the Rangeley area, especially “Dot” Kidder and Irene Brackett.

She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, attended TOPS, enjoyed crocheting, knitting, & puzzles, she was one of Rangeley Lakers biggest high school basketball fans, seldom missing a ball game, She loved animals, especially cats with her favorite being “Mo-Mo.” She enjoyed the social aspects of Facebook and loved cooking for family, friends, and numerous charities as she was known far and wide for her peanut butter fudge as well as her chocolate cream pies.

She especially enjoyed the extremely close bond with her twin sister Carole. Her generosity, thoughtfulness, and her unique sense of humor will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Charles of Rangeley; her children, Clifford “Turtle” Raymond and his wife Patricia of Gorham, Christian “Smokey” Raymond and his wife Sheila of Rangeley, Craig “Donut” Raymond and his wife Joanne of Langtown, Cathy White and her husband Norman of Rangeley, and Carl “Joe” Raymond of Rangeley, not only his mother but his closest and best friend; her twin sister, Carole “Grizz” Haley and her husband George “Huck” of Rangeley and her sister Patricia B. Jordan of Florida; grandchildren, James, David, Angela, Jennifer, Cindle, and John Raymond, Brian and Vanessa White; step-grandchildren, Deanna Caron, Nicholas Dunham, Adam Quimby; 9 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; a special cousin, Lawrence Knight of Phillips; and her best friend, Barbara Quimby of Rangeley. Many nieces and nephews; She was predeceased by a son, Wesley Edward and a step-grandson, Jason Quimby.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Undercroft of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Main Street, Rangeley, Monday from 5-7 p.m. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Church of the Good Shepherd, Main Street, Rangeley with Rev. Judson Pealor, officiating. Interment will follow the services at Evergreen Cemetery in Rangeley. Following interment, a reception will be held in the Undercroft of the Church.
