Morton named Chamber’s interim director

RANGELEY – Judy Morton was named interim executive director of the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce this week after Rebecca Schinas resigned the position last week.

The announcement was made at an Internet marketing seminar and gathering of Chamber members, and other interested attendees at the Swig & Smelt Pub at Saddleback Maine Monday night.

Morton of Rangeley, said the Chamber is hitting “a pinnacle right now” with lots of enthusiastic energy and optimism.

“I’m so excited to be a part of it,” she told the large crowd gathered. Morton knows Rangeley. Her family has been in Rangeley for generations. Her great grandfather, Dexter Huntoon was a Maine Guide and hunter in the Rangeley area and her father was one of the founders of Saddleback ski area.

The seminar featured website development and marketing for business owners by Marshall Communications and the use of social media sites for networking and business promotion, such as Facebook and Twitter, was presented by Chris Farmer, the general manager at Saddleback Maine.
