Holiday Book sale at Rangeley Public Library

RANGELEY – While Christmas time brings lots of joy, for many people the crowded stores and on-line shopping experience can shatter their holiday cheer. For stress free and affordable Christmas gift ideas, stop at the Rangeley Public Library for the Holiday Book Sale.

The book sale features recent hardcover fiction and non-fiction books for adults for five dollars or less. For example, Kathy Reichs book, Spider Bones, is available in hardcover for five dollars and Under the Dome by Stephen King is available in hardcover for four dollars. In addition to adult books, childrens’ books are on sale for 25 cents to 50 cents each. However, books are not the only items for a memorable Christmas present. Other sale items include tote bags, puzzles, handcrafted wooden book marks by Alan Bradstreet, and coffee mugs.

All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Rangeley Public Library and help towards operating and programming costs. The Rangeley Public Library annually raises over 60 percent of its operating budget through fundraisers such as the Holiday Book Sale. “The Library has always been so fortunate to receive such strong community support. Because of this support, we have been able to update a lot of our services and keep abreast with library trends. The books are all in great condition and really do make wonderful gifts,” said Director Martin Gagnon.

The Rangeley Public Library holds a collection of over 22,000 items and offers several services to the community. In addition to a wide array of programming, the library has free Internet access on 12 public computers and wireless services along with printing, copying, and fax capabilities. Recent additional services include electronic books and downloadable audio books. The Rangeley Public Library is open Tuesday from 10 – 7, Wednesday to Friday from 10 – 4:30, and Saturday from 10 – 2.
