Norman C. Coy (1943-2011)

OQUOSSOC – Norman C. Coy, 67, of Oquossoc, passed away Saturday Jan. 22, 2011 at his home in Oquossoc.

He was born March 8, 1943 in Coudersport, PA, the son of Clarence C. and Margaret V. (Bradley) Coy. He attended school in Austin, PA and went on to join the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his time in the military he went to school to learn computer programing in Pennsylvania, moved to New Jersey, and commuted into New York City for work. During this time he met his first wife, Diana Guillermo, she predeceases him.

He then met Kayko Kitiyama and they were married in 1977. He worked in the computer programing field for many years retiring from the corporate world as a project manager as he went to work for the computer consulting company that his wife had started a few years prior, called Strategic Directions, Inc. They worked together until their retirement to Oquossoc where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and cooking. He had his private pilot’s license, and also enjoyed scuba diving with Kay in the Caribbean.

Survivors include his wife, and his mother, a sister, Mary Glover, and a brother Walter Goodwin, several cousins, including a cousin Shirley Garzel, whom he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his father, and a cousin John Garzel.

Visitation will be at the Rangeley Free Baptist Church from 10 – 12 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, with a memorial service immediately following at noon with Rev. Scott Wilson officiating.
