VIENNA – This summer the Mt. Vernon/Vienna community is fortunate to have a talented group of dancers and choreographers residing at Camp Bearnstow on Parker Pond and performing for the community at the Vienna Union Hall 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2.

Dancing under the direction of Nitzia Vieyra will be a group of six talented dance interns from the Mt. Vernon camp. Vieyra, coming to Maine from Morelia, Mexico, has been on the resident artist staff at Bearnstow in Mount Vernon for five seasons. After graduating from Colima University in Mexico, she co-founded the dance company FoBos with which she performed in Mexico and Cuba. She currently teaches, choreographs, and performs throughout Mexico and will bring to the concert at Union Hall a good dash of Mexico.

Providing huge amounts of talent and experience to the dance performance, the Bearnstow interns hail from far and wide. Emmanuel Becerra is a graduate of the University of Colima, Mexico. He studied the tango in Argentina, and has danced with the FoBos dance company in Colima, and with the José Limón Company as a guest dancer, touring in Mexico and the United States.

Ben Grinberg is a Philadelphia-based physical theatre artist, acrobatic choreographer, actor, director and video editor. He is co-artistic director of the Almanac Dance Circus Theatre, a Fresh Tracks artist at New York Live Arts and a resident artist at the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts.

Evelyn Langley graduates from Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., this year where she has studied religion and dance. She produces formal and informal performances with her college’s Terpsichore Dance Collective.

Tyler Rai is a graduate of Bennington College and currently resides in Germany where she has earned a certificate in Somatic Education and is just completing a 10-month contemporary dance program at TanzFabrik in Berlin.

Anabel Segrero, from Morelia, Mexico, is a graduate in dance creation of the Bellas Artes, Mexico’s National Institute of Fine Arts, in Mexico City. Eri Matsui, a young dancer from Fukuoka, Japan has introduced Japanese dance and culture to the Bearnstow community.

This is a dance performance that must not be missed. Suggested donations for this performance are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Donations will benefit the Bearnstow dance program and the Vienna Union Hall. For more information go to http://bearnstow.org/index.html or call Marianne at 293-2674.
