FARMINGTON - An Open House Reception to welcome Alan Stratton and his art will be held at SugarWood Gallery, 248 Broadway, Farmington from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 and from 11 to 3 on Saturday, Aug. 4. The public is invited.

Alan, a student of Stan Keirstead, is a native of Maine. This will be his debut Gallery Art Show. He is an employee of the University of Maine at Farmington. Alan resides in Farmington and has been mentored by Stan for the last 15 years. Alan is a 1977 graduate of Mt. Blue High School where Nicky Adams tutored him in art.

Alan’s favorite artists are Andrew Wyeth and Rebecca Guay.

Alan is married and has one daughter and one granddaughter, who live close by and are an inspiration in his work. Yard work, reading, and family activities occupy much of Alan’s time when he is not painting or working at UMF. Outdoor hikes are often an inspiration for his art.

Alan’s work will remain on display and for sale at SugarWood Gallery through the month of August. Store hours are 10 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 to 4 on Saturday and Sunday.
