FARMINGTON – DDG Booksellers will be sponsoring a book signing, reading, live music and lively discussion of local author Peter Hardy’s new book “Thorn: The Prophet” on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. at The Homestead Bakery.

Hardy will be discussing his book “Thorn: The Prophet”, the sequel to “Thorn: The Tree,”  a parable of ecology and our spiritual connection to nature.

The story of the sentient oak tree continues as Thorn, Paxton and Tucker go back into The Chords to unravel more of their past, and future lives. Having recently discovered that he was the founder of the Bahai religion in his last incarnation, Thorn pushes farther into his past to reveal many other extraordinary lives. Meanwhile Paxton tries to find a way to retrieve the knowledge contained in his past life as Albert Einstein so that he can continue his work on Unified Field Theory while Tucker struggles to save Thorn from the impending clear-cut on Blueberry Hill.

Hardy was born in December in the little town of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Since then he has climbed Mt. Kenya on Christmas, slapped a seal in New Zealand, betrothed a bride in Beijing, snorkeled with sharks in Belize, rode rapids in Bali, deferred a diploma in Mexico, rescued a rhesus in Rwanda, serenaded a street corner in Prague, clutched a crocodile in Thailand and narrated a novel in Maine. Exactly one of these exploits is untrue. He is currently teaching mathematics and zen, putting poetry to music and creating a sustainable lifestyle with his family on Rainbow Farm in Maine.
