FARMINGTON – In preparation for their own tour during April vacation, the Franklin County Fiddlers will host the Strawberry Hill Fiddlers, from the Hudson River Valley in New York who are on a tour of their own, and the newly-formed Waterville acoustic ensemble, founded by Sam Lyons, former student teacher at Mt. Blue, on Monday, March 30.
That afternoon, the three school groups will workshop to share tunes and ideas with the ultimate goal of putting together a free concert that evening.
These similar groups learn traditional tunes by ear incorporating improvisation, singing, and dancing, and feature high school musicians in an extracurricular activity, performing at community venues and traveling extensively.
The concert on Monday, March 30, is free to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Bjorn Auditorium on Mt. Blue Campus. It will spotlight each individual group and will feature several songs they’ll perform together!
