CHESTERVILLE – Organizers are gearing up for the first ever Chesterville Poetry Night, to be held on Friday, Oct. 9, at the Chesterville Center Meeting House. The free, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. event is meant to attract Chesterville poets of all ages and levels of experience.

“We feel it is important to give Chesterville people a turn on the stage,” said Cynthia Stancioff, one of the spokespeople for the non-profit Chesterville Center Meeting House organization. “Chesterville not only has a lot of published poets for a town of its size, but we also suspect there are many ‘closet’ poets hiding their talents. Many children write poetry as well, and we hope they will come and read a poem or two.”

Time at the microphone will be determined based on the number of participants who show up, but equal opportunity will be given. Original poetry presented at the event will be published in a booklet afterward, with permission of the poet.

The Chesterville Center Meeting House is located at One Borough Road, on the corner with Zion’s Hill Road, across from the Chesterville Honor Roll monument. For more information call 778-3513.
