Guitars sought for KES music program

KINGFIELD – Dedicated to supporting school programs in the arts, the Kingfield POPS is helping the Kingfield Elementary School 5th grade general music class locate instruments.

Music teacher Graybert Beacham said he is specifically looking for 15 guitars.

“I’m finding that, by 5th grade, the students are looking for a more hands-on experience. I’ve had so many requests for guitar lessons, it is quite remarkable,” Beacham said.

In hopes of putting instruments in the hands of children, the Kingfield POPS has set up donation sites at the Kingfield and Farmington branches of Skowhegan Savings Bank; Franklin Savings Bank in Farmington; and Tranten’s in Kingfield and Farmington. Donation pick-up can be arranged by emailing info@kingfieldpops.com. Donors wishing to have a receipt for tax purposes should attach their name and address to the donation.

The mission of the Kingfield POPS is to provide music and art programming for regional residents, youth and schools. The Kingfield POPS believes that a vibrant arts environment enhances quality of life and creates opportunities for economic development. Visit kingfieldpops.com for more information.
