FARMINGTON – Musician Heather Pierson will perform with her full trio at the North Church 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6. A community jam session and refreshments start at 6:15 p.m. The event is sponsored by New England Celtic Arts and the Farmington Historical Society.

Heather Pierson is an award-winning pianist, multi-genre singer/songwriter, arranger, bandleader, and performer. From New Orleans-style jazz and blues to rousing Americana and poignant folk narratives, Pierson’s live performances move seamlessly and effortlessly from one style to the next, and a growing catalog of wildly divergent CD releases reflects her boundless creativity.

Pierson will be performing with Davy Sturtevant on strings and vocals and Shawn Nadeau on upright bass and vocals.

She is now finishing up work on her eighth studio recording, Motherless Child, a collection of inspired originals and renditions of blues and jazz standards that promises to be her best release to date. Recorded in rural Maine on a 1898 Steinway Model A in front of a live in-studio audience.

Born to a Scottish émigré mother and Navy veteran machinist father just west of the Ozark Plateau in Joplin, Missouri, Pierson began in life in the single-traffic-light town of Galena, Kansas.

Music was constantly spilling out of the speakers of her parents’ stereo – a diverse play-list that included The Allman Brothers, Kansas, Cream, The Beatles, KISS, Cat Stevens, Mario Lanza, Jose Feliciano and Anne Murray. This diversity served to open Pierson’s young mind to the rich and varied language of music and to lay the foundation for her future endeavors and experimentation. She is no stranger to southern Maine, however, this is her first concert in Franklin County.

North Church is located at 118 High Street in Farmington. Cheese cake and pie will be available before the concert and at intermission. Concert tickets are $15. Reservations at: 207-778-2006 or www.necelticarts.com or 207-491-0273.
