FARMINGTON – The Hope Haitian Choir will be performing a free concert at the Farmington Baptist Church on Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Enthusiasm, energy, and a message of Hope – a group of 15 children and 5 accompanying adults from Haiti arrived in Boothbay on July 20, ready to share their music in both English and Creole. These youngsters will be living with families in the Boothbay region for about a week while they intensely rehearse in preparation for a 25+ concert tour from Maine to New Jersey.

Barb House directs the choir and has made several trips to Haiti to select and work with the children. Most of the music is original, written by Barb and singer/songwriter friend; Fabry Murphy. The purpose of this effort to afford these young people an opportunity to develop their potential so that they can make a positive impact on the world in which they live. The Hope Haitian Choir’s mission statement is to speak hope to America through the faith testimonies of those from Haiti and to give hope to Haiti through spiritual development and by practically helping them with education, food, water, medical care and other basic needs, always glorifying the name of Jesus Christ.

The tour will perform at various venues sharing the faith and hope they have, even in the midst of the very difficult circumstances in their homeland. People will have an opportunity to share monetarily at the concerts to benefit projects in Haiti, such as starting a school this fall and helping to feed the members of the choir.
