The flow festival will take place Jan. 12 at 49 Franklin in Rumford.

RUMFORD – “Get Stoked” is the name of the indoor flow festival to be held at 49 Franklin in Rumford. Booked as an “Indoor Flow Escape” the festival ends with a Gala Show open to the public on Saturday Jan. 12 at 8:30 p.m. Flow Arts is a term used to describe the intersection of a variety of movement-based disciplines including dance, juggling, fire-spinning, and object manipulation.

The show and festival feature some of the best flow artists in New England and is emceed by festival coordinator and performer Kaitlyn Grassette of Portland, formerly of Rumford. Grassette, better known as The Flaming Panda is often assigned as safety officer for other events around the state. Lux Luminous of Boston will perform her unique brand of flow, she is co-director of the Boston Flow Festival, Boston Juggling Fest and the Flow Show- Boston. Greg Haskins of Boston is a master manipulator of everything poi, and will be on hand to show his amazing skills. Also in the line up, Mateus of Medford Massachusetts is very comfortable with a variety of flow props and has performed in over 11 festivals in 2018 alone. Sunrise Storm Hooper, Sierra Gilbert of Portland is a very stylish and graceful performer, and you won’t want to miss what she can do with a hula-hoop. Local performer Scot Grassette of Rumford has performed juggling off and on for well over 30 years and will add a comedy element to the Gala. Brad-Skilled-Kern of Manchester NH is a colorful performer with a variety of flow techniques that are proven crowd pleasers. As a bonus (weather permitting) after the Gala Show, a variety of performers may be found performing flow with fire, along with fire eating and fire breathing in a designated area outside. The fire portion of the evening will only happen if there is no to little wind or/rain.

The Get Stoked Gala Show is suitable for a variety of ages and takes place at 49 Franklin in Rumford. Show is at 8:30 pm with doors opening at 8:00 pm. There will be a cash only bar and theater snacks. Tickets are $15 day of show. Special $10 advance tickets available downtown Rumford at Bartash’s and All That Jazz on Congress St. and online at www.49franklin.com. Maine’s only Flow Shop “Flow on Fire” will be on hand with a variety of props for purchase.
