As students find themselves navigating a world of unfiltered digital information our dedicated librarians are more essential than ever. By grounding and directing students, as well as supporting teachers, Mt. Blue Regional School District librarians match patron to book, and provide guidance in the area of other information resources. They are a wonderful group and Devaney, Doak & Garrett Booksellers is delighted to continue our partnership with them, and with the community, to help procure the essential new books they need during these times of anemic budgets.

For all the high quality, low budget creativity on display in our district libraries even they cannot conjure new books from out of thin air. Exciting new books appear from popular series and are eagerly anticipated by young school library patrons, whether money to purchase them is available or not. With this in mind, DDG and the MBRSD libraries came up with the idea in 2010 to give area residents an opportunity to provide the handful of fresh titles that the libraries so strongly need. The Wish List was a giant success these last four years and the participants are pleased to announce that it is open again for 2016.toby

Visit and you’ll find a wish list of titles hand-selected by our area school librarians. All purchases further support the library in that DDG will be donating 20 percent of all Wish List proceeds towards the library as well. The Wish List Center can be found at (http://ddgbooks.com/ddgwishlists.shtml) Stop by and have a look.

The Wish List is only one part of the MBRSD School Libraries fundraiser, though.

The second part is a district wide ‘In Store Book Fair’ at DDG Booksellers coming up during The Chester Greenwood Weekend. Twenty percent of all your purchase will go the school library of your choice, so put your earmuffs on and venture out during The Chester Greenwood Day weekend to support our school libraries and meet special author guest Hazel Mitchell, who will be signing her terrific new book Toby from 1-3 p.m. on Dec. 3.
