KINGFIELD – There may still be snow in western Maine but it is never too early to think about Kingfield’s major music event of the summer. In its 12th season, the 2014 Kingfield POPS guarantees to be a magical celebration of what makes the western mountains of Maine so unique.
Ticket holders are sure to be pleased with this year’s lineup, which will be headlined by the Bangor Symphony Orchestra conducted and directed by Grammy Award winner Lucas Richman.
Joining the BSO will be national recording American Folk artist Jonathan Edwards. Bringing songs of passion, insight and humor to the stage, this veteran performer is nearing 50 years of a stellar career of uncompromising musical integrity. Edwards stuns audiences with his throaty tenor voice and energizes crowds with his toe-tapping acoustic guitar cords complimented by the melodic leads of his harmonica. The POPS concert will feature Edwards as a duo with nationally renowned arranger, composer and well known pianist Tom Snow.
Kingfield POPS guests will enjoy the music of Maine born Kate Schrock. This talented singer songwriter holds six nationally released CD’s under her own label, Kakelane Music.
The Kingfield POPS is proud to welcome the immigrant children of The Pihcintu Multicultural Chorus. The nationally recognized chorus of young women from around the globe is led by award winning producer, musician and songwriter Con Fullam. This unique chorus inspires awe and transforms audiences as they share the healing power of music.
To begin the enchanted evening of music in the mountains, the Western Mountains Trash Can Band will perform the soothing sounds of the islands. Started in 1992, the band continues to be a local favorite.
The festivities begin on June 27 with the Kingfield Artwalk taking place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This event features artist displays and showings in multiple venues throughout the downtown area.
The Festival of the Arts brings artisans and craftspeople from all areas of Maine to Kingfield. The festival takes place on June 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Kingfield.
The 2014 Kingfield POPS will take place on June 28 at the Kennedy Farm. The venue is located on Rt. 142 in Kingfield. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Early bird tickets for the Kingfield POPS are on sale now through May 14 for $20. On May 15, ticket prices increase to $25. As always, youth 17 and under are free.
