FARMINGTON – The Arts Institute of Western Maine (AIWM) is inviting area youths (ages 12-19) to audition for its Listen Local Recital Series. Specifically, there will be a Listen Local Youth concert on March 15 at 3 p.m. in Nordica Auditorium on the campus of the University of Maine at Farmington.
Any interested young musician or dancer can submit an audio or visual file with a sample of his/her repertoire to AIWM. It can be sent as an mp3 file or YouTube link to janeparker@gwi.net. Questions, or a request for a live audition, can be directed to this e-mail address. The deadline for submission is Dec. 31.
AIWM is looking for performances of 5-15 minutes. The Listen Local Youth concert will, hopefully, be an annual event similar to AIWM’s “Youth Concerts” in the past. Unlike the previous youth concerts, Listen Local Youth will be an auditioned event with fewer performers.
AIWM is hoping that area music/dance teachers, both public and private, will encourage their students to participate.
