The results are in for the Mallet School Book Review Contest. The top three prizes were as follows.

First Place Review of Clementine, by Sara Pennypacker.
Olivia Lockhart, Grade 3: I think that Sara Pennypacker is a good author that puts a lot of voice into her stories. I think she does a really good job of writing stories about an 8-year-old’s point of view because she has experienced being 8. I think she may have been or acted like Clementine or it was a true story about her and something that happened when she was a kid. She might have spent a lot of time in the principal’s office. I like the times Clementine went to the principal’s office for not paying attention and squirming around during class time.

Second Place Review of Fish Out of Water, by Helen Palmer.
Ellie Pelletier, Grade 3: (Our Second Place Review!) I think you should read this book because it is hilarious! I love the writing and illustrations. It has a great lesson! It shows you what might happen if you don’t listen to others, and that you should never feed a fish too much fish food. I liked all of the story, but the writing was the best.

Third Place Review of Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss.
Maeve Hickey, Grade 3: (Our Third Place Review!) The Swiss Family Robinson are sailing on a boat. At one point a strong storm invades the area of the boat, and the boat gets thrown off track. The Swiss Family end up at a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. They try to find life on the island. The book is full of excitement, adventure and curiosity. The book is all about the Swiss Family Robinson’s adventure. At some points it’s tense, but at the end it turns out to be a great story. The author chose to use excellent wording and the book is a great book to read as a family.

The top three reviewers won a $20 gift certificate to DDG Booksellers, which sponsored the event. Honorable mentions went to Jared Fontaine and Ian Berry, who received 10.00 gift certificates. All the fabulous contest entries can be read here.
