Maranacook String Band to perform at Phillips Community Church on Aug. 15
PHILLIPS - The Maranacook String Band will be in concert at the Phillips Community Church on Wednesday August 15, 2012 at 7PM. This is part of the celebration of the 200th birthday of the town of Phillips. All are invited to attend and asked to make a donation at the door to help with the building restoration fund.
The Maranacook String Band is a professional bluegrass band led by nationally known bluegrass songwriter Stan Keach and consists of current and former Maranacook area students.
The band features the hot mandolin picking of Dan Simons and two outstanding teenage lead vocalists, Julie Churchill and Lee Stetson. Bassist Zach Greenham and banjoist Megan Door round out the band. Al Hawkes of the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame said of them, “Great playing on acoustic instruments; marvelous solo voices and beautiful vocal harmonies!”
