Mt. Blue Curtain Raisers Improv Comedy kicks off a new season

FARMINGTON – As flocks of rowdy, out of control leaf peepers return to the streets of the once peaceful Farmington, we realize that our summer has come to its end. It’s not all bad, though. Things slowly start to happen around these parts again, including performances by Farmington’s favorite high school improv comedy troupe, the Mt. Blue Curtain Raisers. Thursday, Oct. 23, Curtain Raisers return to the Mt. Blue Campus Forum with their 7:30 p.m. season opener.

The Mt. Blue Curtain Raisers perform their own brand of improv: unscripted, audience interactive comedy. They perform guessing games, scene-based games, and games that combine a little bit of everything. The audience provides the ideas and the Curtain Raisers deliver the laughter.

Each year the troupe travels to Boston in the spring to perform at ImprovBoston, a professional comedy theater in Cambridge. All proceeds at the door go to support this trip. Cost of admission for this performance is $3.

This year’s cast of talented improvisors includes returning senior, Sam McIntosh and new seniors, Dan Lesko, Mikayla Lisherness and Aaron Willingham. Returning juniors include Allison Callahan, Benjamin Luchini, Park Laflin, Steven Minns and are joined by new juniors to the group, Jordan Kapiloff, Roshan Luick and Alex Gilbert. Returning sophomores include Isaac Libby and Kayleigh Morse. And new ninth grade members of Curtain Raisers are Tommy Eng, Audrey Keith and Jon Lesko.

The Curtain Raisers Improv Comedy Troupe perform on Thursday, October 23rd at 7:30 p.m. in the Mt. Blue Campus Forum. (Note the earlier than usual start time.) Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Admission is $3. Questions may be directed to Mt. Blue Curtain Raisers Artistic Director, Dan Ryder, at dryder@mtbluersd.org.
