FARMINGTON – The Mt. Blue Regional School District music department’s upcoming spring concerts begin this week. The concerts will feature music students participating in the local schools’ bands, choruses and orchestras and is the culmination of the 2014-2015 academic school year.
On Thursday, May 28, the Mt. Blue High School band, chorus and orchestra will perform under the direction of Karen Beacham, Carol Shumway and Steven Muise. The concert will be held in the Bjorn Auditorium on the Mt. Blue Campus. During the concert the music department awards will be given including the bestowing of senior music honor cords. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
The Cape Cod Hill School Concert will be presented on Friday, May 29 at 1:30 p.m. in the school gym. Featured are the 4th and 5th grade orchestras under the direction of Nancy Beacham, the 5th grade band under the direction of Karen Beacham and the 5th grade chorus under the direction of Lindsay Burke. Mrs. Patricia Hayden serves as concert accompanist.
The Mt. Blue Middle School music students will be presenting two sets of concerts on Wednesday, June 3. These concerts are in conjunction with the Mt. Blue Middle School Art Show. The 6th grade band, chorus and orchestra will perform at 12:30 p.m. in the school gym. The 7th/8th grade ensembles will present their concert at 7 p.m. in the school gym. Directing these concerts are Lindsay Burke, Scott Dunbar, Darryl Pike and Steven Muise assisted by Karen Beacham, Nancy Beacham and Patricia Hayden.
Academy Hill School students will be performing on Thursday, June 4 at 1:30 p.m. in the school gym. Ensembles performing are the 4th and 5th grade orchestras, the 5th grade band and the 5th grade chorus. The concert will be directed by Lindsay Burke, Steven Muise, Darryl Pike and accompanied by Patricia Hayden.
Concluding the concert season are the music students at Cascade Brook School under the direction of Karen Beacham, Nancy Beacham and Carol Shumway. On Friday June 5, two concerts will be presented, one at 10 a.m. for the school student body and one at 1:45 p.m. for family and friends. Performing are the 4th and 5th grade orchestras, 5th grade band and 5th grade chorus. Mrs. Patricia Hayden serves as concert accompanist.
