FARMINGTON – “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” is a family Christmas event which will be presented by the New Hope Baptist Church, 268 Perham Street in Farmington 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 19, 20 and 21.
Beginning with a flute solo of the title song, and followed by a beautiful rendition of “O Holy Night,” the program features a variety of other Christmas music, both traditional and new, ranging from a 30-voice choir (“Everything Changed That Night,” “Who Could Imagine,” both with full orchestrated accompaniment “Advent Trilogy” with includes the songs “Come, thou Long Expected Jesus,” and “Joy to the World” with piano, flute and bells, and “The Yearning” by the internationally renowned composer Craig Courtney) a harp solo of “What Child is This” and a 14-piece instrumental ensemble (“Away in a Manger,” “Angels We Have Heard on High,” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful”. The origin of “O Little Town of Bethlehem” will be presented in a mini-drama ending with a children’s choir.
Also included is a piano solo of “Angels From the Realms of Glory,” a piano duet of “Carol of the Bells” as well as a ladies group singing “Sleep, Baby Jesus,” and a men’s four-part harmony of “God Rest, Ye Merry Gentlemen.” Scriptures and poems centered on the first and second coming of Christ will round out the program.
