Frozen River, by William Burke, earned the best overall award in the 2015 juried competition at the Western Mountain Photography Show presented by the Rangeley Friends of the Arts. This year the event will be held on Sept. 23-25 in Rangeley. 

RANGELEY – The Rangeley Friends of the Arts presents the second annual Western Mountain Photography Show on Sept. 23-25: a multi-faceted weekend celebrating photography and photographers. The weekend will include these components:

A juried competition with awards – the theme is antique, and photographers may submit up to three images to earn cash prizes in two categories: color and black and white, as well as for best overall. Photographers interested in submitting work visit www.rangeleyarts.org and click on “Photo Show” for guidelines and information. Submissions are digital and the deadline is Sept. 11.

The juried exhibit will be on display on in the Banquet Room of the historic Rangeley Inn and Tavern on Friday, Sept. 23, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

The awards reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Banquet Room of the historic Rangeley Inn and Tavern. A catered, public event where all of the accepted images will be on display and the winners will be announced and cash prizes awarded.

Photography show and sale will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 outside the entrance to the juried show at the Historic Rangeley Inn, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., rain or shine. Enjoy the original work of photographers and related vendors. To be an exhibitor, visit rangeleyarts.org and click on “Photo Show” for an application. The juried exhibit will be on display free of charge to the public concurrently inside at the Rangeley Inn.

Photography workshops and special scenic cruises will be offered during the weekend.
