Poetry contest winners to present work April 23 at Farmington library

FARMINGTON – The winners of the 2nd annual poetry contest sponsored by Literacy Volunteers and the Farmington Public Library will read their award-winning work on 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 at the library.

Poetry contest winners are: “Let Twilight Come” by Kelly Boivin, “Le Tombeau” by Wendy Boren, “Archaeology” by Nicole Byrne, “Salt of the Earth” by Caitlin K. Murphy, “The Dance Most of All” by Savannah Ridgley and “I Miss You” by Savannah Ridgley.

The contest is being held for the second year in honor of Poetry Month in April and Shakespeare’s 450th birthday on April 23, 1564.

Farmington poets Ann Arbor and John Rosenwald will host the interactive event in which contest winners will present their award-winning work and refreshments will be served.

The poems were to be less than 60 lines with cash prizes in each of two categories awarded: poets 20 years old and under & poets 21 years old and over. Three entries per poet were permitted.

All events at the library are free and open to the public.
