Poet’s Corner: The Shape I’m In

The Shape I’m In by Greg Zemlansky

I’m well, I’m well, there’s nothing
wrong with me.
I’m just as well as I can be!
I have arthritis in both knees.
I lose my teeth when I have
a big sneeze.
My pulse is weak and my blood
is thin.
But I’m healthy for the shape
I’m in.

I wear dentures because most
of my teeth are out!
I can’t hear a word you say
unless you shout.
I’m over-weight and I can’t
get thin.
But I’m healthy for the shape
I’m in.

My memory is bad and my head’s
a spin. I practically live on my
medicine!
But I’m healthy for the shape
I’m in!
