Poet’s Corner: Winter Season

Winter Season
by Greg Zemlansky

The apple trees no longer
bloom.
The pretty flowers are all
doomed.
Looking out the window at
a beautiful sight.
The dumping of Mother Nature
of the silent soft white.

The fluffy white that brightens
children smiles.
Makes us wonder about the slick
slippery roads for miles.
The freezing snowy winds hums
a chilly song.
Telling us that the winter season
will be long.

There are no tuneful birds to
be found.
Only starving squirrels looking
for food on the white ground.
The sparkling rooftops glisten of
new white.
The frozen window hides the
shine of a cold moonlight.
