EUSTIS – The Sandy River Ramblers will bring their distinctly Maine-flavored Bluegrass act to the Stratton Community Building on Friday, July 8, in a concert sponsored by Rte. 27 Arts.

The Ramblers’ 2012 CD, Cry of the Loon and other original songs about Maine, has been called “a gift to Mainers” by Maine writer/columnist/sportsman George Smith. Songs like “Logger’s Son,” “North Woods Cabin,” and the comic songs, “Slow Down (You’ll Hit a Moose),” and “Boots From L. L. Bean” have proven to be very popular with Ramblers fans.

“We’ve begun work on a new CD of songs about Maine,” says bandleader/songwriter Stan Keach. “It won’t be done until late summer, but we will do some of the new songs as well as some of the old.”

The Ramblers feature stunning 3-part vocal harmony that has been called “soaring” by Phill McIntyre of New England Celtic Arts. Julie Davenport, the young upright bassist, is, according to Keach, “one of the best singers in Maine, for sure.” Mandolinist Dan Simons, Banjoist Bud Godsoe (a Madrid resident), and fiddler Max Silverstein are all virtuoso instrumentalists. “They’ll get your feet tapping, for sure,” says Keach.

The Stratton Community Building is at 88 Main Street (Rte. 27). The concert begins at 7:00 PM. Admission is $10 for adults; $5 for youths (6-16). Refreshments will be offered for sale at intermission. For more information, call Stan (207) 397-2241
