TALISKER – def. – “A premium single-malt Scotch whiskey distilled on the Isle of Skye.” Alternate definition –“ A premium group of six musicians who sing and play traditional music from Great Britain and Ireland.”

The latter will appear in Nordica Auditorium on Friday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. This Talisker performance will be sponsored by the Arts Institute of Western Maine, a community-based arts group and affiliate of the University of Maine at Farmington.

Talisker is made up of area musicians Donna and Peter Campion, Kathryn and John Sytsma, Elaine Eadler, and Dan “Tree” Robbins who have been performing together for ten years. They have raised many a roof in venues throughout Western Maine with their spirited tunes sung and played on a variety of instruments. Also in their repertoire are hauntingly beautiful tunes typical of Celtic music. So when you’re not tapping your toes you may be reaching for a hankie.

Tickets will be $10 for adults but free for children 18 and under, and students with an ID. Nordica Auditorium is in Merrill Hall on the campus of the Univ. of Maine at Farmington and is handicap accessible. FMI call 778-9437.
