FARMINGTON – Downtown  merchants will be celebrating “Cider Monday” tomorrow, a local twist on “Cyber Monday.”

Cider Monday will be celebrated by offering a free cup of cider to all those who stop by to browse and shop on Monday, Dec. 2. Participating downtown businesses include Devaney, Doak & Garrett Booksellers, The Calico Patch, Pins and Needles, Mooseville, Everyday Music, and Sugarwood Gallery.

Cider Monday is designed to thank all those who have chosen to shop locally in the “bricks and mortar” stores of their neighborhood instead of purchasing online from some far distant warehouse.

“A cup of cider from a server sure to smile at you and not crash, shelves of great holiday gift ideas right there to touch and feel, friendly real people to help, and the knowledge that proceeds from your purchase stay in your community are all the right reasons to get out and enjoy the day,” said Kenny Brechner of Devaney, Doak & Garrett Booksellers.

“We are confident that “Cider Monday” will very quickly overtake “Cyber Monday” as the shopping event of the year,” he added.
