Direct support professionals of the year at Work First Inc. awarded

Congratulations to Anne LeBlanc and Sandy Cavanagh, DSP of the Year at Work First Inc of Farmington.

FARMINGTON - In recognition of the Direct Support Professional Staff (DSP) State-wide week celebration, Work First Inc. a private non profit organization in its 39th year of operation selected Anne LeBlanc and Sandy Cavanagh as Work first DSP’s of the year Award. Anne and Sandy have dedicated years of their lives to the individuals they assist daily. Anne has been employed at Work First Inc. for 14 years. Sandy is in her 6th year of employment.

Anne and Sandy were selected by their peers and by the administration as the outstanding workers for this year. Their dedication, pride and positive attitude and sense of humor were the most mentioned characteristics in this voting process. They were both awarded $100 with a beautiful glass award recognizing their outstanding commitment to Work First. They also were presented with the typed compilation of the kind words that all their peers wrote and a piece of Scott Perry’s beautiful scenic photography.

Work First Inc. has celebrated staff days and DSP week for many years. The direct support staff are the heart of the program. They work directly with the individuals with intellectual disabilities. They have incredible compassion, patience and a commitment to the confidentiality and rights of the individuals they serve. This hard working, often part time, staff deserves to be honored and recognized.

Work First has surprises each day this week, from Sept. 10 through Sept. 14. The plans for each day vary. Some delicious food, flowers, breakfast, balloons, and many drawings will be shared.
