FARMINGTON – April Guagenti, MSW, LMSW, the executive director of Evergreen Behavioral Services (EBS) based in Farmington, recently completed graduate certification in the field of gerontology from the University of Massachusetts Boston’s John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy & Global Studies.

Gerontology is the study of social, psychological, and policy aspects of aging in populations and individuals. To achieve certification, Guagenti completed courses in advocacy, the psychology of aging, health and physical changes with aging, and elder health care issues.

Guagenti said, “The curriculum focused on the research of social science and policy perspectives. People are living longer than ever before and the demand for policy changes and services to support the aging population is increasing at a rapid rate.”

Guagenti resides in Wilton and has been employed by EBS for 18 years. The organization provides 24/7 emergency mental health response and community outreach services and is an affiliate of Franklin Community Health Network.
