Farmington Falls Fire Company getting ready for annual fundraiser

Last year’s yard sale.

FARMINGTON FALLS – The Farmington Falls Volunteer Fire Department in 1945 was led by Dana Butterfield serving as fire chief. In 1949 Joseph T. Philbrick deeded part of his property to the department for so long as it was a fire company. The property is right behind the station. The field at that time was known as the Joe T. Philbrick Field.

It needs to be maintained and must have a ball team. If the company ceases or fails to maintain a ball team, the property reverts back to the Philbrick heirs.

For over forty years the Farmington Falls Fire Company has been sponsoring a Yard Sale and Chicken BBQ to fulfill that commitment. The money earned supports the Hawks baseball teams, currently the Majors and Minors, buying necessary equipment, uniforms, and maintaining Philbrick Park.

Although the event doesn’t take place until July, it is time to start planning. Firemen are now accepting clean items for the Yard Sale. FMI call Junior at 778-2181 or Bob at 778-3156.
