Farmington police promote new sergeant

FARMINGTON – Officer Michael Lyman has been promoted to Patrol Sergeant at the Farmington Police Department.

Lyman, the second K-9 officer in the history of the department, joined FPD in September 2013. A field training officer and primary training coordinator, as well as a drug recognition expert, Lyman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Southern Maine. He graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in December 2014. He has been a K-9 officer since 2017.

“It is a credit to your hard work, leadership and dedication to the department,” Chief Jack Peck said, in a letter written to Lyman announcing the promotion.

Peck noted that Lyman had been awarded Employee of the Year twice as well as recognized by the Maine Chiefs of Police Association with the Life Saving Award twice.
