Farmington Radio Shack will remain open for business

FARMINGTON – Despite the news that Radio Shack Corporation has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will be closing approximately 2,000 stores nationwide, the owners say that it will be business as usual at the local store.

Co-owners Homer Ambrose and Linda Walter said that their store, which is an independently-owned and operated franchise, will not be impacted by the filing.

As a franchisee, Lynn-Hom Electronics Inc. has always had flexibility in how they operate. For example, if there was a product that Radio Shack didn’t carry, Lynn-Hom Electronics had other vendors that they could order from.

“At the same time,” Walter said in a statement released Thursday, “Homer [Ambrose] and I have been loyal to the Radio Shack brand over the last 38 years. We have also had the freedom to do things our own way.”

Many corporately owned Radio Shack Corporate stores will be closing, including several in Maine, according to a list put out by the company.

Walter said that she didn’t anticipate any changes in products or service at the Farmington Radio Shack.

“We will still have access to all the products we carry now,” Walter said. “We anticipate the store operating just as it always has and want customers to know that we will be offering support for all our customer needs.”

  1. Good news indeed! Radio Shack is my go-to for many purchases. Someone greets me when I come in the door, helps me find what I need, answers my questions, and in short, provides the kind of customer service we wish all businesses did!

  2. Sorry to hear about the Radio shack stores that are closing/ I sure enjoyed going to them. I was making a Motorspeed control and getting electronic components was easy to find. I think that with out the Radio shack stores parts for elecronics will be much harder to find. John-Michael Mahnke

  3. Was hoping this was the case. Whether it’s the phone section or the electronics section of the store, outstanding at service at Lynn-Hom Electronics — always.

  4. It’s great news that Homer and Linda will continue to offer us the service we’ve enjoyed over their years here. Thanks for being a local business we can trust!
