SKOWHEGAN – March 15, 2019, marks the day Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream opens its five family owned stands. Gifford’s will be launching seven new flavors this season and will be offering soft serve at their Bangor stand. To celebrate opening day, Gifford’s will continue the tradition of giving out free small cones at all five stand locations: Skowhegan, Bangor, Waterville, Auburn, and Farmington, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.

New Ice Cream Stand Flavors include:

  • Aroma Joe’s PB Mocha Aroma Joe’s proprietary cold brew blend and our chocolate make a mocha-licious ice cream rippled with peanut butter and studded with chocolate chips.
  • Blackberry Cobbler- Blackberry ripples and vanilla wafer cookies surrounded with yummy vanilla ice cream. •
  • Unicorn Delight- A magical mix of 2 ice creams in one… Sweet vanilla is fairy dusted with a pastel rainbow of confetti and then stirred together with ultraviolet bubblegum.
  • Pumpkin Pecan Praline Whirl- (August-October) A buttery brown sugar cinnamon ribbon winds through spiced pumpkin ice cream stocked with praline pecans.
  • Pink Fla-mango Frozen Yogurt- One scoop, two totally refreshing flavors – pink grapefruit swirls alongside mango twirls for one great, low-fat frozen yogurt treat.
  • Vanilla NF/NSA- No-fat vanilla ice cream sweetened with Splenda and made for skinny sundaes, shakes, or scoops.
  • Watermelon Sherbet- (Available in May) The sweet, fresh taste of a sunny summer day in a 99% fat-free creamy scoop.

Gifford’s is excited to announce they will be continuing their fundraising initiative in support of the Travis Mills Foundation, and Veterans causes for 2019. The Travis Mills Foundation supports post 9/11 recalibrated veterans and their families through long-term programs. Gifford’s has given over $20,000 to The Foundation since 2017.

“Over the last few years, we’ve been incredibly touched by the tremendous support the Gifford’s family has given the Travis Mills Foundation,” Travis Mills said. “Their commitment to sharing quality Maine products as a family-owned business has been such a natural fit for us since we value the importance of families and also want to share all that Maine has to offer with our veterans.”

Along with continuing their alliances with the Boston Bruins and the Travis Mills Foundation, Gifford’s is joining forces on the flavor front with Aroma Joe’s and collaborating with Colby College to round up some product research.
