LEAP golf benefit raises $7,000, thanks to businesses and players

Tom Somerville takes aim at a life-size plywood Moose, and the $250 cash prize donated by Mooseville during the Iron Accuracy Challenge at LEAP’s sixth annual golf tourney.

CHESTERVILLE – Thanks to the generosity of local people and businesses, LEAP was able to bring in over $7,000 for its sixth annual Golf Tournament, held at Sandy River Golf Course. A total of 14 teams comprised of 55 golfers participated in the event, which included 9 holes of golf scramble, skills challenges, and a BBQ from New Sharon’s own Top of the Hill Grill.

The winning team of Dave Duley, Steve West, Dave McLaughlin, and Scott Pratt won in a close contest with a sizzling 23, nine shots under par.

Additional challenge winners included:
Closest to the Hole- Nancy Pratt
Women’s Long Drive- Deb Peters
Men’s Long Drive- Nate Pratt Holt
Putting- Mike Deraps
Iron Accuracy- Brad Orbeton

Monies raised from this tournament will be used to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities in west-central Maine by funding recreational and wellness opportunities to people who otherwise might not be able to afford them.
