PHILLIPS – Have you encountered Phill? Phillips Phill, that is, a diminutive troll who dwells, with his little troll children (or philldren, as they’re locally known), in the town of Phillips.

Adopted by the Sandy River Business Association, Phill’s wandering tribe of trolls can be found in selected Phillips-area businesses, but only if you search for them – and they’re very good at hiding. But for those who do manage to track one of them down (or more than one) a pot of Phill Bucks (50 bucks worth of them!) waits at the end of the rainbow.

The trolls appear only in warm weather and will make their debut during Phillips’ Welcome to Summer event on Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5. Five of the troll philldren will hide, one in each of five businesses, and anyone who finds one of them will have their name entered into a “Troll Hoard” drawing. (Find all five of them and your name will be entered five times.)

The name drawn from the hoard at the end of the weekend will win 50 Phill Bucks, certificates redeemable for 50 bucks worth of merchandise at any of the five participating businesses. For June, these businesses are: Little White Church Antiques, Phillips Hardware, Creative Collections, Jim’s Pickers’ Paradise, and Edmunds’ Market.

From month-to-month the businesses may change, that information being circulated on posters around town. Find Phill’s Philldren will continue the first weekend of each month through
September. And if you want to meet Phillips Phill himself – a cute little fellow who turns to wood during the day – his summertime lair is The Little White Church Antiques on Main Street in Phillips.
