Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community appoint microenterprise specialist for western Maine

FARMINGTON – The Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community announced today that they have hired Karleen Andrews as the Microenterprise Specialist for the Western Region including Franklin, Oxford and Androscoggin counties.

Karleen, former manager of Titcomb Mountain in West Farmington, joins Women, Work and Community with a strong background in both corporate and small business management. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Forestry from the University of Maine, 14 years of operations experience as a land manager and procurement forester for International Paper, nine years of experience as a ski area manager, and multiple years as a private forestry consultant.

As Microenterprise Specialist, Karleen will be providing a variety of services to individuals seeking to start or grow a small business. These free services include conducting workshops, providing one on one assistance and acting as a local contact to connect small businesses with local and regional resources.

Karleen will be conducting two workshops in October. The first is an Introduction to Self-Employment, on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 8 pm at Region 9 Adult Education, 377 River Road in Mexico, ME. The second workshop is a two session workshop on Monday, Oct. 20 and Oct. 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Women, Work and Community office at 108 Perham Street in Farmington.
