Saddleback has record season

RANGELEY - Saddleback Ski Resort closed its 2010-2011 season May 1 and announced record revenue, record skier visits and record snowfall.

According to Chris Farmer, general manager, "Saddleback's revenues from mountain operations increased more than 10 percent and we saw a 14 percent increase in the number of skiers and snowboarders."

Snowfall for the season totaled 276 inches, which is over four feet more than the seasonal average of 225 inches.

This spring Saddleback decided to extend its season by operating weekends into May. On its closing weekend, the mountain operated four lifts and had 45 trails open.

"We could have operated a few more weekends," Farmer commented, "but we met our objective of extending the season into May. It's now time to focus on our summer programs and events."

During the non-winter months, Saddleback hosts an annual Bluegrass Festival and other events, weddings and conferences; operates a marina on Rangeley Lake, and offers 19 Stay & Play Packages that allow summer visitors to take advantage of the myriad of recreational activities that the legendary Rangeley Lakes Region has to offer.
