FARMINGTON – On Monday night a special caucus of the Farmington and New Sharon Democratic Committees selected Scott Landry of Farmington as their candidate for the Maine House District 113 seat. He is replacing Nickolas Bray a student at the University of Maine in Farmington who has withdrawn from the race. Landry is running as a Clean Elections candidate.

Landry, born in Dexter, graduated from UMF in 1970 with a BS in elementary education. He worked in many fields, including 18 years with the Prudential Insurance Company. Most recently he was the founder and owner of Shiretown Insurance Agency in Farmington, and retired in January of 2015. He lives on Shepherd’s Lane with his wife Brenda.

Long a member of the board of directors of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, Landry served as president of that board during a period in which its future was in doubt. Under his leadership, and with the help of an active board, the Chamber is now on solid footing. He has long been active in many local organizations, and currently sits on the boards of directors of the Healthy Community Coalition, the Kingfield Pops Festival and the High Peaks Alliance. He is also supports local agriculture, especially 4-H. Landry is an avid gardener, and beekeeper, and plans to raise Katahdin sheep as soon as the barn is finished on his homestead.

Since retiring, he has been working on a new home that he and his wife built in Farmington. As that work winds down, he is looking for ways to continue his community work and give back to the region he loves.

“ I feel that I am in touch with the residents of Farmington and New Sharon and can and will represent their concerns in Augusta. I love life here in Franklin County and will do all I can to promote the area and economic growth,” Landry said.

Landry is asking for $5 donations as a Clean Election candidate.

“I am looking for the donations from my friends and neighbors so I can qualify for matching funds,” he said. 1. I have known Scott Landry for 45 years since he was a student at UMF in the 1970’s. He is a smart, moderate, practical problem-solver, a successful local business person with a long history of serving his community. He is a natural leader who will quickly rise to positions of leadership and influence in the Maine Legislature. The people of Farmington and New Sharon could not ask for a better and more qualified person to represent them in the Maine House of Representatives.

  2. Scott has shown over the years that he is interested in the issues we face today in Maine. He gets’ my full endorsement. He has been very active in cultural events in addition to his tenure with the Franklin Chamber of Commerce in addition to the other organizations he has been involved in. Lead on.

  3. I have known Scott for 35 years and seen how involved and generous he is in this community . Although I am a Republican on most issues, I vote for the best person, and Scott will be a great asset for us in Augusta.

  4. What Gary said! Scott is not a moonbat like most of the dems in Augusta. As long as he stays strong and votes with his heart he will be the best to come out of this area in a long time. I assume he will be running unopposed; can’t think of a republican that could beat him.

  5. Scott is full of energy and enthusiam. The saying about giving a difficult job to a busy person applies to Scott. He handles multiple tasks well.
