Skowhegan Savings receives regulatory approval to acquire five Franklin County branches

SKOWHEGAN – Skowhegan Savings announced today that it has received the required regulatory approval to purchase Camden National Bank’s five Franklin County branches located in Farmington, Kingfield, Phillips, Rangeley and Stratton. The transaction is expected to close in early October 2013 when the five Camden National Bank branches open as Skowhegan Savings.

“We look forward to welcoming our new customers to the Skowhegan Savings family.” Skowhegan Savings President and Chief Executive Officer John Witherspoon said. “Skowhegan Savings has been serving Franklin County from our central Maine locations for many years, and as a Franklin County resident, I’m especially excited to expand our branch franchise and bring our brand of community banking to The County.”

Skowhegan Savings is dedicated to making this transition as seamless as possible for its new customers. Affected customers should expect to receive notifications from Skowhegan Savings over the next few weeks outlining details of the transition, which is scheduled to take place in early October.

Headquartered in Skowhegan, Maine, Skowhegan Savings has provided community banking services to the people and businesses of Central and Western Maine since 1869. Prior to this acquisition, Skowhegan Savings had 10 branches covering Somerset, Kennebec, and Penobscot Counties. The addition of the five Franklin County branches marks Skowhegan Savings’ entrance into Franklin County which will expand and solidify its presence in Western Maine while providing its customers even more locations to conduct their banking business.
