KINGFIELD – The Schoolhouse Gallery is pleased to announce that photographer Cam Held has joined the staff at the Gallery.

A 2014 Bates College graduate, Held majored in Geology while also getting concentrations in Wildlife Biology and Photography and Filmmaking. Originally from Rochester, N.Y., Held aims to use his photography and cinematography to share the intrinsic beauty of the natural world, and to encourage conservation efforts. To date, Held’s photography has led him across four continents and his work has been shown in several galleries in the Northeast. His filmmaker projects have amassed over a million views online.

Last Fall, John Orcutt, nature photographer and co-owner of the Schoolhouse Gallery, led a weekend photography workshop at Maine Huts & Trail’s Flagstaff Hut for the Bates College photography club. After meeting Orcutt during this workshop, Held continued to stay in touch, while completing his undergraduate studies.

“I look forward to photographing in this beautiful part of New England, being mentored in the business of nature photography, working with the Orcutts and being part of the Schoolhouse Gallery operations,” said Held in early October.

The Schoolhouse Gallery is located in Kingfield at 266 Main Street and features fine art photography and other artwork inspired by the Maine High Peaks. Open Fridays from 1-6 p.m. and Saturday 11-4 p.m., the Gallery is a participant in Kingfield’s Friday Winter Artwalks, held on the first Friday of every month from Nov. 7 through April 3.

Orcutt and Held are planning a series of special photography evenings to be held this winter, focusing on nature photography topics and photographers. Please join the Schoolhouse Gallery in welcoming Cam to Kingfield! For more information please see the Schoolhouse Gallery’s website at www.schoolhouseartgallery.com or call (207) 939-6518.
