UMF Testing Services expanding to offer exams for Public Safety positions

UMF Testing Services Center offers proctored standardized and professional exams to help meet employment and educational needs.

FARMINGTON - The University of Maine at Farmington Testing Services, a center that offers proctored standardized and professional exams, has once again expanded its services to now include testing for Public Safety positions by the National Testing Network.

The UMF Testing Services is the only one in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont that offers testing through the National Testing Network. NTN directly contracts with public safety departments across the country to test candidates for Public Safety jobs in the areas of Fire, Law Enforcement, Emergency Communications and Adult and Juvenile Corrections.

In addition to its new service, UMF Testing Services is one of only three sites in Maine that is able to administer the Graduate Record Examinations, an admissions requirement for many graduate schools in the United States and Canada. Individuals can register for the computer-based exam on the Educational Testing Services website at and select one of the two UMF labs, A or B, titled on the ETS website.

The UMF Testing Services facility is located at 252 Main Street, Farmington, on the third floor of Franklin Hall on the University of Maine at Farmington campus. It offers testing Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with occasional Saturdays.

For safety purposes during the current Covid -19 pandemic, every candidate must bring and wear an approved face covering while in the Testing Center. Candidates who have traveled beyond Maine and approved states (see link below) may provide negative results for a COVID-19 test from a medical provider in lieu of the fourteen day quarantine.
