FARMINGTON – University Credit Union was pleased to present W.G. Mallett School with a check for $1,000 as part of their annual Adopt-A-School Program which supports a local school each year.

“UCU has a mission to support education in Maine and this program was designed to assist our local school systems with goals and missions that they have for their students,” said Beth Beaudoin, the Farmington branch manager. “We financially support our adopted school, offer assistance with financial literacy and use our location to collect needed items.”

This is UCU’s eighth year offering this program and each school helps design the program to be what they need from it.

Morgan Leso, guidance counselor at WG Mallett School, said they plan to use the funds “towards community-building initiatives throughout the remainder of this school year and next school year, such as Grandparents Day (which is scheduled for May 19), Muffins with Moms, Doughnuts with Dads, and Students Exploring Everything Day (SEED). It will also go towards purchasing our Star Student stickers and other positive behavior supports.”
