FARMINGTON – The town’s Recreation Department got a helping hand from an Alabama church group this week, as part of their annual trip north.

The Alabama group is associated with the Farmington Baptist Church, spending Saturday through Friday in the community. They contacted the local Recreation Department, seeking projects, and had already scraped and painted the baseball shack, maintenance building, picnic tables and a fence at Hippach Field, prior to spending time in Meetinghouse Park and Walton’s Mill Pond Park.

“We are very thankful to have them helping us,” assistant Rec Department director, Matt Foster said Monday. “Our parks will be in great shape this summer after they are finished with the work they plan on doing.”

  1. Such a kind and thoughtful gesture. Young folks like these give me hope. You give me hope for our future.Heartfelt thanks!!

  2. Saw them working in the heat. Thought…Wow…good kids. Knowing they were from Alabama…our “heat” was likely a welcome relief to their heat. Thanks, kids!!! (and chaperones)
