Chesterville elects Estabrook and Jenness to selectmen board

1 min read

CHESTERVILLE – Voters elected Tiffany Estabrook and Tyler Jenness to serve as selectmen, assessor and overseer of the poor at the polls on Tuesday.

According to Town Clerk Heather Wheeler, Estabrook received 315 votes and challenger Stephen Welch received 304 votes. Estabrook will complete David Archer’s term after he resigned on Sept. 15. Archer’s term has two years and four months remaining.

Since no one filed nomination papers, there were 43 write-ins to fill the remaining year left on the selectman seat formerly held by Anne Lambert. Lambert also resigned at the Sept. 15 meeting. Both resignations came after it was discovered that Internal Revenue Service penalties discussed on Sept. 8 had already been paid prior to that special town meeting. At that meeting, residents reluctantly agreed to appropriate $3,500 with the understanding that the penalties needed to be swiftly addressed to avoid generating further interest.

Jenness received 70 write-in votes to the second top write-in vote total of 61 for Maitland Lord. Jenness will complete the four months remaining on Lambert’s term.

Estabrook and Jenness and will join current selectmen, Chair Guy Iverson, Matthew Welch and Paul Caldwell.
