WILTON – A local hotel will be providing a sweet start to the day for active or retired members of the military Saturday, in honor of National Waffle Day.

Comfort Inn & Suites will be providing a free waffle breakfast for current and former military personnel on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. at its location at 1026 Route 2 in Wilton. The local “Say Thank You with Waffles” breakfast is part of a national event, which consists of Comfort Inn establishments providing waffle breakfasts for specific groups of people in the community.

The nation-wide events correspond with National Waffle Day on Aug. 24.

“Although we are in the travel business, the Comfort brand also has strong roots in the local communities we serve,” said Anne Smith, vice president of brand strategy for Choice Hotels International. “Going above and beyond is the essence of Comfort hospitality and our franchisees are excited to express their appreciation.”

The “Say Thank You with Waffles” campaign kicks off as the brand is currently redefining itself with a new look and feel for guests. Hotels have already upgraded amenities to enhance the stay experience for business as well as leisure travelers. These include a recently augmented free hot breakfast, as well as flat-panel televisions, new bedding and pillows in all guest rooms now available at hotels throughout the domestic Comfort system.

  1. I just checked with the Comfort Inn. The invitation applies to all presently serving military and all veterans, retired or not.

  2. Thanks, Bill for that clarification. It is nice to know that anyone who has served is welcome!
